Additional Sony MHCEC77 Mini Hi-Fi Component System with 3-Disc CD Changer Information

3 Way Main Speakers with huge 6 3/10" Woofers for Maximum Bass --- A two driver design helps ensure audio accuracy by providing a greater frequency range. The speaker's crossover splits the frequency band into three ranges: bass frequencies to the woofer, treble frequencies go to the tweeter and the middle frequencies are sent to a third drive commonly referred to as the midrange.

What Customers Say About Sony MHCEC77 Mini Hi-Fi Component System with 3-Disc CD Changer:

Sound was acceptable. It won't play a CD;just says"no disc" no matter how many are in or what you do.

Their "flat fee" repair charge is MORE than we paid for the whole system. Sony's very UN-helpful web support site doesn't even recognize the model # that is clearly stamped on the unit.

WE bought model # MHC-EC77 just over a year ago. The radio works, that's it.

We'll never buy another Sony product again. It has always been noisy when reading/changing CDs,but we were ok with that.

What ISN'T acceptable is the fact that in just a year, it has stopped working altogether.

The highs are decent, the mids are sub-par, and the lows (bass) are practically non-existent. It sits well on a bookshelf or dressed, and doesn't take up much space. Even then, I might get it repaired. Maybe I was just spoiled by the excellent sound quality of my old Aiwa NSX stereo, but this system just doesn't produce good sound. It's just that good. I eventually had my system sitting 5 feet from a window, and still couldn't pick up a single channel clearly.Construction: The construction of this system is the only thing pleasing about it. As far as the MHC-EC77 goes, this is a tremendous letdown from Sony.

There are only 4 EQ's and they all sound equally horrible. I plan on using my JVC HX-GX7 until it stops working. Spend the extra $25-$50 on a JVC HX-series stereo and you won't be disappointed. Especially the "Jazz" setting which sounds like you just threw 50 pillows on top of the speakers.Functionality: The 3-disc changer has a nice shelf-like design which is pleasing to the eye and easy to use. For $150, you can do much better.

Here are my observations.Sound: I'm used to Sony giving me lots of bang for my buck when it comes to their products, but this stereo just doesn't cut it. It's also made of a pretty durable wood/plastic material and still maintains a light weight. If you don't mind sub-par quality in a stereo and are just looking for something to fill your room with "ehhh" sound, this is a good choice. Be forewarned, if you live in a bottom level apartment, don't expect the AM/FM tuner to work. Not even the DSGX "Bass Boost" helped my experience. The controls are pretty straight forward and labeled well.

where you could plug your iPod or computer into the stereo and play music off of them. i just have a question. does this stereo have an audio in plug.

It is well-made and has a futuristic look to it. This is one of the best buys I have ever made. I recommend this system to anyone who doesn't want to spend a fortune on a separate receiver, yet still get a powerful, quality sound with incredible bass. This Sony mini stereo and CD sound system is fantastic. The sound and bass are incredible---sounds like a full-sized system, yet takes up much less space.

Very unhappy with the product - it skips on CD's on all three disc slots and is basically unusable.
